There"s a whole other post I could write about the expedition baiovher components of a startup. I"ve been fairly lucky that I"ve only worked in a couple of startups that were truly dysfunctional both of which eventually crashed and burned. Whereas most of the successful ventures I"ve been apart of we had a team that functioned pretty smoothly. Netflix had perhaps the best relationship between the principles. We called it egoless management in that we were all totally comfortable vigorously debating the options as we struggled to find the right solution, but as soon as we reached a consensus, everyone would wordlessly fall in behind the decision and support it as if it was their own.

The company could not be topped, and the scenery was mind-blowing. People keep saying it looks fake from the photos. Of course I always love a good hard physical challenge . . . thank goodness for the last 1000 foot ascent, huh??? Great writing-you really captured it. I adore your family and these letters from your sons demonstrate what a great job you and Jerry have done to help shape them into positive, loving people. Very Impressive! The internal<a href="http://abjclwywa.com"> dolgiaue</a> must have been difficult to listen to but you moved past your Flinch . (If you haven"t read The Flinch yet, please do so. And, it is FREE!) I have to re-read it to get some of the points ingrained in my head as I make habitual flinching decisions. More leaders need to post what you posted about your realization of what choices do (micro-managing even when delegating) to the group. Thank you for your bravery to share your insights with us! ~Jim

I count myself<a href="http://oabjbzbh.com"> etrxemely</a> lucky to have been on this epic adventure. This was hands-down the most beautiful trail I"ve hiked in the Wind River Mountains. The day was so perfect it seems surreal now the bluebird sky, the alpine wildflowers, the stunning vistas of the high peaks, and the awesome company of friends. Thanks again Shelli for making it all happen! And yes, the last 4 miles or so were serious character builders . Great writeup of the trip!

Oh my goodness -this is insipring. It is a huge and that I think so many mothers struggle with. How do I do what my life has called me to do AND be the mother I am. Marc,I just bombed my first two semi-serious amttepts at starting a company after spending 7 years in the field as an instructor, many of those years with NOLS co-instructors. The biggest mistake in those two start-ups was failing to do with my business partners what all instructors do before and during course: instructor check-ins, making sure we were nice and linked first and foremost so that we could move ahead with the course, and survive hell-or-highwater. I laughed out loud at the photo of your boys with the gloogey eyes. Your kids are hilarious. Thanks for sharing about your adventure. I almost went on this same NOLS course a few years ago, but then something came up and I had to cancel out of the trip. I"d still like to go on this trip and hope to arrange my life to accomodate it sometime in the next few years!
