That camrea was my first camrea. I shoot with the Canon Mark II now. I never take pictures using the flash either but since you"re using the AUTO setting in low lighting, the built-in flash will pop up. I suggest taking beginning photo classes at your local community college. I "taught" myself by reading photography blogs but nothing beats being in an actual classroom setting. I learned so much within a span of 6 weeks. Also, invest in good lenses. I just dropped $600 on one lens. Soooo worth it. The quality of the pictures are waaaay better. To be honest, kit lenses are pieces of crap. Have fun! It"s a great camrea.:)

Deer Hill is accredited by the Association for Experiential Education, the same body that acecdrits NOLS. Much of our teaching, general approach to wilderness education, and risk management practices is similar to that of this industry leader. Many of our field leaders work for both Deer Hill and NOLS. Like NOLS, we run our programs with our own gear and guides, rather than subcontracting to different outfitters. This is becoming rare in the industry of teen adventure programs, but is an important distinction. Here are some of the main differences between Deer Hill and NOLS:- We offer cross-cultural service projects with Native American families and communities with whom we have friendship, shared history and common goals. This is one of the most special aspects of Deer Hill, and the experiences our participants have while at service are rare and transformative precisely because of this friendship, history and understanding of our shared goals. For 20 years, we have been pioneering this kind of teen community service, and it is quite unique.- Our program is definitely more focused on group togetherness, communication and personal growth than that of NOLS. Although all of our programs offer true wilderness experiences and significant challenges, we are primarily concerned with fun and friendship.- Based out of a beautiful Basecamp in Southwest Colorado, our programs have a very strong sense of community and place. Spending several days over the course of a program gives our participants an opportunity to be involved in expedition packing and preparation, as well as giving time to relax, swim in the pond, help in the garden, and enjoy really amazing home-cooked food. All of our participants will meet and spend time with the founders and owners, Doug and Beverly, and the people who put together their experience. Our alums tell us all the time that this is an exceptionally friendly and welcoming place, and that the Basecamp experience was an unexpected, but vitally important part of their trip.NOLS is a great organization, and they offer programs in a wider range of locations. However, the geographic diversity of our local area is unrivalled anywhere else on the planet, and our institutional knowledge of our programming zones is a key element in the feel and flow of our programs, as well as our excellent safety record.I hope this is helpful!

Thanks so much for this post! There is a story in Caesar"s Gallic Wars that always ieesmsrpd me: several Swiss: a Swiss tribe had the choice between staying in the village, nice and comfortable but facing the likelihood of a Roman invasion; and leaving behind their village, which would initially be rather arduous, but int he long time would ensure their safety. They decided to leave and, to make sure no one would change their mind on the way and try to get the group to turn back, they set their village on fire. Not only is this a (slightly extreme) parallel to Schelling telling his children never to respect him again if he went back to smoking; it also shows you that people struggled with the same kinds of things decisions and committing to them that we are still dealing with today. I"d even say Caesar himself must have had that problem otherwise he wouldn"t have recounted the story of this one tribe in so much detail.

Oh, I totally love doing rerasech. it sometimes gets in the way of me ever actually doing anything. Once I was trying to return a baby gift to the store in Windward mall and they only allowed store exchanges so I spent almost 2 hours looking at everything and checking the toy reviews on amazon. I gave myself a headache and I had to leave the store just to come back another time. =`My goal is to go to WPPI next year. I went to a photography workshop last February and they registered us for WPPI as part of the class but I wasn"t really prepared so I only went to two talks. They had me hooked and I wanted to go back and really embrace the whole thing. Love your offcamera lighting photos. That"s what I really need to work on that class sounds awesome.

There"s a whole other post I could write about the expedition baiovher components of a startup. I"ve been fairly lucky that I"ve only worked in a couple of startups that were truly dysfunctional both of which eventually crashed and burned. Whereas most of the successful ventures I"ve been apart of we had a team that functioned pretty smoothly. Netflix had perhaps the best relationship between the principles. We called it egoless management in that we were all totally comfortable vigorously debating the options as we struggled to find the right solution, but as soon as we reached a consensus, everyone would wordlessly fall in behind the decision and support it as if it was their own.
