I am a RN, and have found this issue to be ever so increasing in the mceadil feild. My last position ended along with multiple other individuals over a period of about 8 months. It also extended into areas other than the nursing staff. Many people in manageral postions got there by other than quality care and kindness. The last place was likely the worst I"ve woked for, and I let them terminate me, rather than quitting and having lost the ability to collect unemployment while looking for a new position. Also, you wonder what the refrence will be, which I would guarantee is dependent on who ends up taking the call. I filed a grevience to expose this through statndard means in which one can report the institution, which is many times the only recourse one can take. The rate of turnover was amazing, similar complaints were made by multiple individuals who were licensed in their positions, and it was the same people over and over who were the instigators of this kind of behavior. This is the prime example of a few individuals, that really are inept, angry, and prey on others. Most people need to work and put up with this stuff, and the nice people are often the targets. I guess the point is to report these places or individuals to state and federal agencies that regulate them, especially medicare and medicade reimbursed facilities. They profit off of people and get away with a significant amount of behavior that if witnessed by a "normal" individual, would simply not be tollerated. I"m personally done with allowing this to happen to me, and have changed the way I confront right from the beginning with these type of personalities. Our positions are hard enough, much less dealing with intimidation, and mean spirited loosers that couldn"t follow what you do for any sig period of time. I"m also going back to school to obtain a job at the mid/upper manageral level, as we all know, this stuff starts at the top, and rolls down the chain on staff. Don"t ever believe what these bullies say or tell you. Who are they to judge someone, when they themselves are the troubled, inferior, manipulative, douches that get some sort of sick joy out of making others miserable. It amazes me that so many people put up with this for in some cases years. Life is way to short dread the 40 plus hours per week, and loose a minute of sleep becouse of these situations. Know that I think about it, I lost a good 20 plus minuts writing this, which I happened to stumble on.. Good luck to all, and remember, they have the problem, not you!
